1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

This 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was acquired by the seller in 2022, and it was subsequently fitted with an Aqualu Industries aluminum tub and refinished in red. The truck is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case, and it rides on an Old Man Emu 2.5” lift kit and 15” steel wheels. Features include a removable hardtop, a receiver hitch, rear ambulance-style doors, manually locking front hubs, inverted shackles, rear jump seats, and vinyl floor liners. This FJ40 is now offered with a Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The truck was disassembled and repainted in red during the refurbishment, which the seller notes is highlighted by the installation of an Aqualu Industries aluminum tub. Exterior features include a removable hardtop with a white roof along with side mirrors, a receiver hitch, and rear ambulance-style doors. The washer system is not hooked up.
The 15″ steel wheels feature polished hubcaps and are mounted with 33×9.50″ Kenda Klever tires, and a matching spare is secured to the rear. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs, and braking is from front discs and rear drums. An Old Man Emu steering stabilizer and 2.5” lift kit have been installed, and the seller notes that inverted shackles have been fitted.
The interior features front bucket seats and inward-facing rear jump seats trimmed in gray upholstery along with vinyl floor liners and an upholstered dash. The cabin does not have lights.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames an 80-mph speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 69k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six is equipped with a single carburetor.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The frame is said to have been stripped, blasted, and powder-coated during the refurbishment.
Chassis number FJ40-304743 is shown above, while the VIN on the Pennsylvania title is listed as “304743.”
The current Pennsylvania title carries an Antique brand and a “mileage exceeds the mechanical limits” notation.
