This 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280CE  is finished in silver over a black MB–Tex interior and is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It was sold new by VIP Motor Cars LTD in Palm Springs, California, and was acquired by the seller on BaT in April 2021. Features include a sunroof, 14″ steel wheels, a cassette stereo, cruise control, and R134a-based air conditioning. This C123 280CE shows 118k miles and is now offered with an owner’s manual, service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Astral Silver Metallic (735) and was repainted in the 1990s per the prior owner, and photos of the repaint process can be viewed in the gallery of the previous listing. Exterior features include a sunroof, fog lights, dual side mirrors, a power antenna, and anodized aluminum window trim.

The 14″ steel wheels feature color-matching hubcaps and are mounted with 195/70 Tourmax GFT tires. Stopping power is provided by ventilated discs at each corner. The brake calipers and brake hoses were replaced and the brake fluid was flushed in October 2021.

The seating surfaces are upholstered in black MB-Tex, and interior equipment includes a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, cruise control, and power windows. The air conditioning system was converted to utilize R134a refrigerant under previous ownership.

The later-style four-spoke steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 118k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership.

The 2.8-liter M110 inline-six was factory rated at 142 horsepower and 149 lb-ft of torque. The smog pump and belt were replaced in 2021, at which time an oil change was performed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The differential was resealed in 2021.
