This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was first delivered to Smith Chevrolet of Turlock, California, and it is powered by a 427ci L71 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car underwent refurbishment work under previous ownership in 2014 and 2015 that involved refinishing it in green over black leather upholstery and rebuilding the engine, and it received an NCRS Blue Ribbon Concours Award in 2025. Equipment includes a Positraction limited-slip differential, a black convertible soft top, retractable headlights, dual side mirrors, 15″ Rally wheels, a telescopic steering column, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, an aftermarket AM/FM radio, and a cabin heater. The battery and tires were replaced in preparation for the sale. This C3 convertible was acquired by the seller in 2024 and is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, car show awards, spare parts, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished at the factory in British Green and was refinished in 2014. Features include a replacement black convertible soft top, a removable hardtop, retractable headlights, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, a power antenna, side vents, and dual exhaust outlets. The windshield washers do not work, and the seller tells us that an auxiliary switch needs to be used to open the wiper door.

The silver-painted 15″ Rally-style wheels are mounted with Nexan redline tires measuring 225/70. Braking is handled by discs at each corner, and a Borgeson power steering box was added.

The bucket seats were reupholstered in black leather with replacement foam. Amenities include an aftermarket AM/FM radio, an electric clock, and a cabin heater.

The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a telescopic column and frames a 160-mph speedometer with a speed alert as well as a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. Instrumentation found in the center stack includes an analog clock along with displays for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 105 of which were added under current ownership.

The 427ci L71 V8 features triple two-barrel carburetors for a factory rating of 435 horsepower, and the engine was rebuilt in 2015. Additional equipment includes an aluminum radiator, electronic ignition, and a one-wire alternator. The distributor cap and were replaced in 2025, and the oil and filter were changed in preparation for the sale. The removed smog and transistor ignition systems are included in the sale.

The engine stamping is shown above. The IR suffix corresponds with a 435-horsepower, 427ci V8 for use with a manual transmission. Additional part stampings and castings are shown in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and an optional Positraction limited-slip differential.
