1965 Mercedes-Benz 220Sb

This 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220Sb is powered by a 2.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed automatic transmission and is finished in green over light green MB-Tex upholstery. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2024, and subsequent work involved replacing the brake booster, valve cover gasket, and spark plugs. Equipment includes 13″ steel wheels, power steering, chrome bumpers, a cabin heater, interior wood trim, and front bucket seats. This Fintail is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with spare parts and a Pennsylvania title.
Heckflosse, or Fintail, versions of the W111 chassis were built between 1959 and 1968. This example was finished from the factory in Dark Green (268) and received a repaint at some point under prior ownership. The car has chrome bumpers, chrome trim, vent windows, and a driver-side mirror. Exterior blemishes and areas of rust-through are shown in the gallery below.
Steel 13″ wheels wear covers with body-color accents and are mounted with 175/80 Milestar Touring tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, and the brake booster and rear wheel cylinders were replaced in 2024. The seller states the brake calipers were replaced under prior ownership. The car is equipped with power steering.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in light green MB-Tex upholstery, while wood veneers accent the dashboard and door panels. Interior appointments include a padded upper dashboard, an electric clock, and a cabin heater. Interior wear is depicted in the gallery.
The optional two-spoke ivory steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames vertically oriented instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The speedometer, trip meter, and odometer do not work. The odometer currently shows 68k miles, and approximately 200 miles have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.2-liter M180 V inline-six features was equipped from the factory with dual Zenith carburetors and rated at 110 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. In 2024 the valve cover gasket, spark plugs, and a vacuum hose were replaced. The valves were also adjusted at that time. A leak from the oil filter housing is noted.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
The current Pennsylvania title carries a “Not the Actual Mileage” notation.
